By The Way! Thoughts from Sharon Wyatt
A PATRIOT’S PRAYER July 2010
As I sit here on a perfectly beautiful day, with a cool, calming breeze gently rustling through the garden—God's presence is so apparent, by virtue of this remarkable gloriousness that surrounds me. It is just as though the Holy Spirit is “paying me a call.” My soul rejoices as I worship Him…freely. My mind wanders further into my thoughts, and the realization of sacrifices made by my fellow man, now and for centuries before which has allowed me on this fine day to observe Him without fear of persecution.
A profound feeling of thanksgiving and gratefulness, to those courageous souls, overwhelms me. All the battles and struggles against mighty foes they fought to preserve the values we cherish. May these victories go on strong and unscathed, so that we continue to move toward the goal of salvation for all mankind, so freely given by his sovereignty.
We who live in countries where we can commune and worship at our own will, are indeed among the fortunate, even in this ever mounting cynical and radical world that we witness every day. We must pray for those who meet with peril with each bent knee in prayer, who must worship in secrecy, who praise in hideaways, who bravely faced their enemies and defy those so ready to do them harm. Oh, that we shall always be able to seek Him without fear, that those lives that were lost for our religious freedoms have not been in vain. Let us never forget to cherish those who gave “the last true measure of devotion” to ensure our freedoms and liberty.
Somewhere in time the lion will lie down with the lamb—and those who were, and are called, to sacrifice will find themselves recognized by all of us for their valor and unselfishness for the cause of peace. Their names will indeed be in the Lamb's book of life. So, in the splendor of His presence, as I ponder all this on a God-given, perfectly beautiful day, I pray that all people will someday rise up and be able to walk bravely and proudly by the way.

This is the first of what begin “By the Way,” in our monthly letters. “By the Way,” refers to our Jesus who is “The Way,” of course. Each month I hope to have something that will prayerfully inspire you with some insights or a word received from God in your behalf, adding to what we pray is your happiness, contentment, and fulfillment in Jesus.
Prayer is the key element in our daily walk with the Lord, at the Wings of Healing and in our lives. It is something that we must all make a habit of, and in so doing keep our eyes and ears open to His word. So many of you are at a point where a big decision must be made. I say to all of you such a leap-of-faith should be preceded by much prayer then listening for confirmation. Putting out a fleece, if you will. And, please do remember, the Wings of Healing is also a prayer ministry, and we will be delighted to pray with you on the phone (626/448-3873), or over your requests when they arrive, as we do every morning. Helping you thought any crisis or decision-making process that befalls you.
When you are praying remember that it is not an act of begging our Lord for whatever it is you ask, but rather a conversation where you speak what is on your heart, and NEVER demand of our Father. He hears our prayers and will answer according to His will and purpose. Only brats demand from their parents. Remember, God is the perfect Father. Strive therefore to be a more prefect child. Over the years I have heard people begin their prayers by demanding, “Lord, right now”! What impudence, not to mention bad manners! I tell you there is a certain amount of protocol, as demonstrated in the Lord’s Prayer, but demanding of God is NOT it! Use Christ’s example of how to pray as the correct approach to the throne of our God Most Holy. This is not to say he does not hear the smallest, even unspoken prayer. He listens to them all.
We are told to pray in the name of Jesus—ending our payers thus—distinguishes us as His followers. Let conversation with Our Father, and prayer begin and end each day, and before entering into any situation. Ask that He be with you. He will be! For in doing so we proceed victoriously in our daily lives always remembering to live each and every day by “The Way.”
April 2010
If only yesterday was tomorrow, and years ago was yesterday…how many times have you used the term, I’ll have to do that someday? In many cases, sadly, someday never comes. And, in time we are riddled with remorse and regret for having not carried out those plans, because circumstances now make it impossible. Personally, I wish I had asked my parents more questions about my heritage, learning more about my ancestry. Alas, now my parents are gone, and all such questions are now impossible. I am certain you can empathize, so enough of my regrets.
More to the point now is, are we the same procrastinators when it comes to the things of God? Has He given you a call to carry out His work? Were you given a ‘talent,’ which He would like to see, manifested in your life? Is there something you need to do for God and you keep finding excuses, always postponing what you should be doing? Will you wake up one day and realize you are no longer capable of doing what He wished? Well I say, wait no longer for that someday—that day has arrived—it is here!!
None of us know what tomorrow will bring. We may have an impression of the daily struggles and the ultimate destiny of our world. Of course, we can see the way certain people live out their lives, and know what is in store for them. But can we see the day-to-day details, and know dates and times? No! And that is why we must not put off for tomorrow what can be done today. Approach each day, as you know our Father would have you do. Stay on top of situations by putting God in control! Get those things on your ‘to do’ list done. Visit those you have wanted to see. (Ask the questions you have wanted to ask.) Fulfill those plans and expectations you have promised yourself you would do ‘someday.’
Remember always your calling, and what you should do, and trust in the Lord for His divine guidance. For what He has asked you to do, He will surely bless. Take each step with Jesus at your side. For by doing so, you will live each day by “The Way.”
